Three dogs, three voices

Each one started as one photo and one typed line. Same tool and same price you get, and each says its line word for word.

  • I heard the treat bag. Don't pretend you didn't open it. I have ears. Big ones.

Three kinds of talking dog app

Search for a talking dog app and you get three very different things. Here is which is which.

  • Talking dog games

A cartoon dog repeats what you say in a funny voice, or you look after a virtual puppy. Fun, but it isn't your dog.

  • Photo to talking video

You add a photo of your own dog and type a line. The photo becomes a video of your dog saying it. AIPet is this kind, and it runs in your browser.

  • Dog translators

They turn your voice into barks, or claim to read your dog's barks. They're for fun: no app can translate what a dog means.

Your dog reads your tone and your body language, not your phone. A talking dog video is a joke to share, not a translation.

Pick a voice that fits your dog

Six voice styles. The same photo sounds like a completely different dog in each one.

  • Grumpy

    Deep and unimpressed

Bulldogs, old dogs, shibas who are over it

  • Sweet

    Small and high

    Puppies, chihuahuas, small fluffy dogs

  • Posh

    Very proper British

Corgis, poodles, dogs who own the sofa

  • Sassy

    Dramatic diva

Huskies and anyone who talks back

  • Hyper

    Over-excited

    Retrievers, terriers, zoomies

  • Narrator

    Calm and warm

    Calm moments, nature-documentary style

Things to make your dog say

  • The walk

“You said 'later' three hours ago. It is later.”

  • The mailman

“He came back. I barked. He left. I saved us again.”

  • Birthday wishes

“Happy birthday. I ate the card, but I meant every word.”

  • Apologies

“The shoe was already chewed. I just finished the job.”

  • Dinner time

“It's 4:59. I'm not saying anything. I'm just sitting here. Staring.”

  • Just because

“You're my favorite human. Don't tell the neighbor with the treats.”

Which dog photos work best

A golden retriever puppy standing and facing the camera
Face toward the camera, eyes open, whole face in good light. Standing or sitting both work.
A black labrador lying upside down on a dog bed
Upside down, turned away or far off. The AI has to guess the mouth, and your dog may look less like your dog.

Close-ups work too. Use a sharp photo, ideally 1,000 pixels or more on the short side, and skip photos with a ball or a treat in the mouth.

Typing a line and picking a voice in the browser

A talking dog app with nothing to download

Most talking dog apps live in the app store. This one runs in your phone's browser: open the page, add the photo, type the line. Your whole dog comes alive, not just the lips: head tilts, blinks, a wagging tail and a voice made to match.

  • Works in Safari and Chrome on iPhone, Android and computers
  • MP4 download, shaped like your photo, ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts
  • Every video is saved in My videos
  • Your photo stays private and is deleted once your video is ready

What it costs

  • 14 credits per second of video, worked out from your line. The husky's 7-second line is 98 credits.
  • Pro comes with 1,000 credits a month (seven 10-second videos), Pro Max with 2,500. Credit packs start at 250 credits.
  • Works on any plan or credit pack. New accounts get their free preview on the you + pet stories.
  • If a video fails, the credits go straight back.
